Last Saturday, Ken Stolpmann from Charlevoix stopped in with the bike he just built. Ken normally rides a Soft-Ride and is a woodworker by trade, so it only makes sense, doesn’t it? The frame itself is entirely wood with some metal bolts and inserts for the bottom bracket and headtube. The downtube is built like an airplane wing, and the whole bike is pretty darn light. Ken made the seatpost and rear wheel mounting assemblies as well. It’s a lively but stiff ride based on a trip around the parking lot. Ken has a couple hundred miles on the frame and says it’s surpassed his expectations already.
